Taking care of your sexual health is as important as taking care of the rest of your health.

Good sexual health covers things such as sexual function, reproductive health and the emotional and physical health associated with sex.

Your Sexual Health Matters

Your Sexual Health Matters is Derbyshire's sexual health service.

It provides free, confidential sexual health services to everyone regardless of age, ethnicity, religion, gender or sexuality.

Services include sexual health advice, information and support, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections and contraception services.

Services are available in a number of locations across Derby City and Derbyshire with some services now also available online.

If you are 16 or over, you can order free contraception and testing kits online at sh24.

C- Scheme

The C - Scheme provides free condoms, dams and lube to people aged between 13 and 24 living in Derbyshire.

Condoms are sent in discreet packaging by post and are also available at selected community venues.

You can look out for the C Card Scheme logo at participating venues where you can get free condoms as well as advice and support.

Chat Health

Young people can contact a school nurse by texting Chat Health on 07507 330025.

This is a confidential text messaging service providing advice and support from healthcare professionals.

The service is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm, except bank holidays.

Chat Health also offers a school nurse drop in and appointments for this can be arranged by texting the Chat Health number.

The school nurse drop-in service can be used to get support on a wide range of of health and wellbeing topics.

Derbyshire LGBT

Derbyshire LGBT+ offers supports to  lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and also for anyone is having issues with their sexual orientation or gender identity - this includes family and friends.

They work closely with the sexual health service in Derbyshire and also offer sexual health advice and offer free STI testing kits.

Other ways to get support

You can also get sexual health support through GP surgeries and pharmacies, however not all of these offer the full range of sexual health services so checking in advance is recommended.

You can also call or visit NHS 111 and they are able to direct you to the most appropriate service.
