Staff at one Ilkeston based company have been singing the praises of our Healthy Workplaces Derbyshire team.

Staff at Weleda, based in Ilkeston, started working with us in February 2025.

The natural organic cosmetics manufacturer has wellbeing in its DNA so it made sense for them to invite us in to support employees with their own health.

Stephanie Smith, People and Capability Manager said:

“We felt that it would be a great opportunity to highlight any potential issues for our employees.

“The service highlighted unknown health issues for some of our employees, who then went on to book in with their doctors.”

Healthy Workplaces Derbyshire offers free health and wellbeing support to Derbyshire businesses including onsite NHS Health Checks.

A health check is carried out by a trained health advisor.

During the check the advisor will measure your staff member's cholesterol and glucose levels from a fingertip blood test. They will take their blood pressure, height, and weight as well as ask some lifestyle questions.

They'll talk with staff member about their healthy living goals, how to keep well and also link them into free local health and wellbeing services if needed.

“The very fact that the service was held on site meant it had no impact to the business day and was easily accessible for our employees .

“The Healthy Workplaces team held sessions in the working day, providing practical advice and it’s  an excellent opportunity for employees to access.”

“It was really good to be offered this service as a proactive approach to health, and it was very thorough with clear explanations of the results.

“I think anyone who has this opportunity should take it up as it's very helpful to understand health risks before problems begin.

“We wouldn't necessarily go to the doctors unless we have symptoms, so this raises our awareness of what is going on in our body.

“It was very informative for basic health and gave you a good idea on what things like blood pressure and cholesterol levels should be.”
